Mark Poloncarz, the top elected official in Erie County, told QMI Agency last week that "nine or 10" potential bid groups had inquired about the Bills, "with half of them interested in keeping the team in Buffalo."
QMI Agency has confirmed reports from last fall that at least one Toronto group is expected to bid on the Bills, fronted by rocker Jon Bon Jovi and Maple Leafs Sports Entertainment chairman Larry Tanenbaum.
Last week QMI Agency reported that the likelihood the NFL would approve the sale of the Bills to any Toronto group intent on relocating the Bills there appears remote.
In part, that’s because of potential legal landmines buried into the team’s strict lease and non relocation agreement with Erie County and the state of New York which bind the Bills to the county owned Ralph through at least the 2019 season.
That means the Bills would have to play at least five lame duck seasons at the Ralph (2015 19) before bolting to a new city.
We wrote last week that it’s practically inconceivable the NFL and its commissioner from Western New York would allow that to happen, especially considering one of the ugliest black eyes in NFL history occurred in 1995 when Cleveland Browns owner Art Modell announced in mid season he was relocating the franchise to Baltimore at season’s end.
The Browns played only three more games at Municipal Stadium, Patrick Sharp Jersey before enraged fans three games, not five years.

The NFL Power Rankings for Week 3 (which actually follows the second week of football, but everybody except Fox Sports wants to either count the Preseason Power Rankings or use the lists as prelude to the forthcoming week, so it’s Week 3) are showing a bit of strange movement in deference to teams that are surprisingly undefeated after two games the Houston Texans, the Miami Dolphins, and the Chicago Bears. The defending Super Bowl champs, the New Orleans Saints, led all the power rankings as it should be. But the 2 and 3 teams might have been bit of a surprise for many, considering that those positions were supposed to be held by the Minnesota Vikings, the Indianapolis Colts, and/or the Dallas Cowboys. But those teams didn’t win their first games. In fact, the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings lost their second games as well. The Green Bay Packers, which had moved up considerably in the NFL power rankings in Week 2, either remained at 2 (ESPN, CBS) or fell to 3 (Fox Sports). The surprisingly undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers took the 2 position on the Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings for Week 3 (they placed 4 and 5 in the CBS and ESPN lists, respectively). The 3 position went to the also surprisingly undefeated Houston Texans in the CBS and ESPN NFL Power Rankings.

The shockers of the week? Miami’s win over the Vikings definitely qualified, but so did the complete annihilation of the Giants at the hands of the Super Bowl runners up Colts. But the 2 and 3 teams might have been bit of a surprise for many, considering that those positions were supposed to be held by the Minnesota Vikings, the Indianapolis Colts, and/or the Dallas Cowboys. But those teams didn’t win their first games. In fact, the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings lost their second games as well. The Green Bay Packers, which had moved up considerably in the NFL power rankings in Week 2, either remained at 2 (ESPN, CBS) or fell to 3 (Fox Sports). The surprisingly undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers took the 2 position on the Fox Sports NFL Power Rankings for Week 3 (they placed 4 and 5 in the CBS and ESPN lists, respectively).
